Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi announces 3% DA hike for state employees ahead of Diwali
Bhubaneswar, Oct 16: In a welcome Diwali gift to government employees, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday announced a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees. With this revision, the DA will rise from 55% to 58%, bringing relief to thousands of families amid rising living costs.
The increased DA will be effective from July 1, 2025, and employees will receive the arrears in cash along with their October salary, the Chief Minister’s Office confirmed.
In a similar move, the state government has also approved a 3% hike in Dearness Relief (TI) for pensioners, which will be reflected in their October pension.
The decision will benefit around 8.5 lakh government employees and pensioners across Odisha. CM Majhi said the step reaffirms his government’s commitment to the welfare of state employees, acknowledging their vital role in governance and public service.
The festive announcement has been warmly welcomed by employees’ associations, who termed it a thoughtful gesture ahead of Diwali celebrations.
