Bhubaneswar, Oct 15: In a shocking late-night incident, a youth identified as Joy Chakraborty was allegedly abducted near Banakhandi on the main road connecting Konark and Nimapada. The incident occurred close to an HP petrol pump when Joy was returning to Bhubaneswar along with his friend on Wednesday night.

According to reports, the duo had travelled from Bhubaneswar to Konark earlier in the evening. While on their return journey, a car that had reportedly been following them intercepted their vehicle near Banakhandi Chowk. Two unidentified youths allegedly dragged Joy out of the car and forcibly abducted him, leaving his friend behind.

Following the incident, Konark Police and the Additional SP of Puri district launched an intensive investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the abduction might be linked to a financial dispute, though the exact motive remains under verification.

Authorities have intensified night patrolling in the area to ensure public safety. Police have appealed to residents and commuters to share any relevant information that may help locate the victim and identify the suspects. The incident has triggered fear and concern among locals over rising crime on the highway.
