Jay Dholakia likely BJD candidate for Nuapada by-election
Bhubaneswar, Sept 26: With the Nuapada Assembly seat lying vacant following the demise of four-time MLA Rajendra Dholakia, political activities have gained momentum in the constituency. Sources indicate that Rajendra’s son, Jay Dholakia, is likely to be fielded by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in the upcoming by-election.
Jay, speaking to the media, confirmed that he has received a green signal from the BJD supremo to contest the election. He dismissed reports suggesting that he might switch to another party, reiterating his loyalty to BJD. “I am fully prepared to contest and have already begun visiting villages in Nuapada to seek the blessings and support of the people,” he said.
Late Rajendra Dholakia had represented Nuapada constituency four times and, in recent months, had openly projected his son as his political successor. On social media, he frequently shared pictures of Jay with BJD chief Naveen Patnaik and even promoted his son’s speeches with the party’s conch symbol.
Although the Election Commission is yet to announce the by-election notification, the political atmosphere in Nuapada is heating up, with parties gearing up to finalize their candidates.
