Woman jumps out of moving auto to escape suspected kidnappers in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Sept 25: In a chilling incident that has triggered shock and concern, a young woman in Bhubaneswar reportedly sustained serious injuries after leaping out of a moving auto-rickshaw to save herself from suspected abductors.
According to reports, the woman had hired an auto from Acharya Vihar to Nayapalli late on Wednesday night. Apart from the driver, another woman was present in the vehicle. During the journey, the woman allegedly tried to sedate the victim and overpower her, indicating a possible abduction attempt.
Sensing danger, the victim resisted the attackers but, realizing her safety was at grave risk, she made a desperate attempt to escape. She jumped out of the auto near Jayadev Vihar, suffering severe injuries on the road. Alert locals rushed to her aid and quickly shifted her to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, her family lodged a formal complaint at the Nayapalli police station. Acting on the complaint, police have registered a case and launched an investigation. A manhunt is underway to trace the auto driver and his accomplice. The incident has sparked outrage, with residents demanding stronger safety measures for women traveling at night in the city.
