Bhubaneswar, Sept 20: Sundargarh district witnessed a disturbing incident when a woman was allegedly stripped naked, assaulted, and paraded through the streets of Timna village under Bargaon police limits. The shocking act, carried out by her husband, has sparked widespread outrage after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

According to reports, the woman was accused of being in an extra-marital relationship with an unmarried youth from a nearby village. The youth had reportedly been staying at her house for four days before both were caught by locals. Villagers conducted a so-called kangaroo court, during which the duo allegedly admitted to the relationship.

The woman’s husband, who works in Bengaluru, was informed about the matter. He rushed back to the village on Wednesday and, in a fit of anger, stripped and beat his wife in public, forcing her to walk through the streets while villagers looked on.

Following the viral video, Sundargarh SP Amritpal Kaur, along with senior officers, reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Police have detained 14 people connected to the case for further questioning.
