Constable Shubhamitra murder case upgraded to ‘Red Flag’; Crime Branch takes over probe
Bhubaneswar, Sept 19: The murder investigation of lady traffic constable Shubhamitra has entered a crucial phase, with the case now upgraded to the ‘Red Flag’ category, ensuring that it will receive the highest level of priority and scrutiny.
According to sources, the Crime Branch has formally taken charge of the probe under the direct supervision of the Director General of Police (DGP), Crime Branch. This move ensures that all aspects of the crime will be thoroughly re-examined, while the agency will also extend crucial support to the Commissionerate Police in unearthing the truth.
The ‘Red Flag’ tag underlines the gravity of the case, compelling investigators to deploy all available resources and advanced methods to solve the crime. Officials revealed that the Crime Branch will revisit evidence collected earlier by both the Capital Police Station and Khuntuni Police Station to plug any gaps in the investigation.
In a major development, the probe will also examine the mysterious death of accused Deepak Rout’s first wife, Aparna, to explore any possible links between the two cases. With the upgraded status, investigators are expected to expedite the process and file a charge sheet within the stipulated timeframe, bringing justice to the victim and her family.
