Odisha Govt orders urgent transfer of revenue staff posted over 3 years
Bhubaneswar, Sept 19: In a bid to strengthen transparency and curb irregularities, the Odisha Government has directed all District Collectors to initiate immediate transfers of ministerial and field staff in the Revenue Administration who have served in the same office for more than three years.
The directive, issued through a circular by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, follows a spate of public complaints highlighting corruption, nepotism, negligence, and irregular practices in various government offices. The state has expressed concern that prolonged postings often create vested interests, undermining accountability and public trust in governance.
The order covers both ministerial staff such as Section Officers (SO), Senior Revenue Assistants (SRA), and Junior Revenue Assistants (JRA), as well as field staff including Revenue Supervisors (RS), Revenue Inspectors (RI), Assistant Revenue Inspectors (ARI), and Amins.
The government has emphasized that these transfers are part of its administrative policy aimed at ensuring efficiency, integrity, and transparency in service delivery. District Collectors have been asked to complete the process urgently and submit compliance reports within 15 days.
This move is expected to break long-standing power networks in offices like Collectorates, Sub-Collector offices, Blocks, and Tahasils, thereby improving citizen-centric governance.
