Tight security in place for Odisha Assembly monsoon session
Bhubaneswar, Sept 17: With the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session set to begin tomorrow, Commissionerate Police has put in place extensive security measures to ensure the smooth conduct of proceedings.
According to official sources, a three-tier security system will be operational during the session. Around 30 platoons of police personnel will be deployed to maintain strict law and order across the Assembly and its adjoining areas. To further strengthen security, barricades have been erected and traffic restrictions imposed on roads around the Assembly, with only emergency vehicles allowed to move through the restricted zones.
The elaborate arrangements include the deployment of a striking force, Special Task Force (STF), bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and fire brigade to deal with any emergency situation. CCTV cameras have been strategically installed at the Assembly, Lower PMG, and Rabindra Mandap for round-the-clock monitoring. Additionally, five temporary police control rooms have been set up near key entry points to prevent any untoward incidents.
Armed forces will guard the Assembly premises, while plainclothes officers will keep watch on suspicious activities. DGP Y B Khurania is expected to personally review the security setup to ensure an incident-free session.
