Registration for Habisyali camp in Puri begins ahead of holy Kartik month

Bhubaneswar, Sept 15: Puri has started preparations for the upcoming holy Kartik month with the commencement of the registration process for Habisyali from today. As per reports, the online registration will officially begin on September 19 through the state government’s portal (https://edistrict.odisha.gov.in).
The Habisyali camp, held every year in Puri during the sacred month of Kartik, attracts hundreds of widows and elderly married women who observe special religious rituals. This year, around 2,500 Habisyali are expected to participate. To facilitate their stay, the district administration has arranged accommodations at Brundabati Niwas, Bagala Dharmasala, Puri Municipality Kalyan Mandap, and Akshaya Patra building.
Eligibility criteria mandate that widows should be up to 70 years of age, while married women must be between 50 and 70 years. All applicants must be physically and mentally fit. Priority will be given to first-time participants, and only those registering online will be considered for the camp.
The government has also made provisions for Jagannath darshan, prasad seva, and free mahaprasad throughout the month-long observance. With these arrangements, the Habisyali camp promises a spiritually enriching experience for devotees during Kartik Brata.
