Foundation stone laid for Odisha Assembly guest house extension at Unit-4

Bhubaneswar, Sept 6: In a bid to expand accommodation facilities for visiting dignitaries, the foundation stone for the extension of the old guest house at Unit-4 of the Odisha Legislative Assembly was laid recently. The ceremony was graced by Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, and Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Raut, along with several senior officials.
The existing old guest house currently has 23 rooms, but frequent visits by former MLAs and other guests often lead to a shortage of space. To overcome this constraint, a three-storey extension building is being planned at an estimated cost of over Rs 3.08 crore. The new facility will add 16 additional rooms, taking the total to 39 rooms once completed.
Spread over 9,000 square feet, the extension will be linked to the existing guest house with a lift facility, making it convenient and accessible. The project is expected to be completed by March 31, 2026.
With the new Assembly guest house near the OMC office already offering 18 rooms, the combined capacity will increase to 57 rooms. Officials said the upgraded complex will feature online booking, modern amenities, and 24x7 security, ensuring comfort and safety for visiting members.
