Diarrhoea outbreak in Jajpur’s Taluha village claims one life

Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: A diarrhoea outbreak has been reported in Taluha village under Barchana block of Jajpur district, where ten people have fallen ill and one person has died, according to State Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra on Wednesday.
The deceased patient was initially admitted to the Barchana Community Health Centre (CHC) and later referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Despite medical intervention, the patient succumbed, and the exact cause of death is under investigation.
A special medical team from Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital, supported by staff from the local CHC, rushed to the affected village to assess the situation and trace the possible source of the infection. Dr. Mishra confirmed that no fresh cases have been reported since.
Medical experts from Jajpur Medical College and the CHC have collected water and stool samples for laboratory analysis. The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) has been directed to submit a comprehensive report within three days to help determine preventive measures.
Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing precautionary steps like safe drinking water and hygiene practices to prevent further spread of diarrhoea in the region.
