CM Majhi hails PMEC Berhampur for breakthrough in indigenous semiconductor development

Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday lauded the remarkable achievement of Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC), Berhampur, for developing the High Performance Multiplier IC – C2S0061, a critical component in India’s first set of indigenously designed semiconductor chips.
Calling the innovation a “moment of immense pride for Odisha,” Majhi said the success reflects not only the technical expertise of Odisha’s youth but also the nation’s steady progress toward semiconductor self-reliance. He emphasized that the achievement aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Make in India’ and will strengthen India’s standing in advanced electronic design and manufacturing.
PMEC Berhampur is among a handful of premier engineering institutions contributing to the country’s semiconductor ecosystem under the Chips to Startup (C2S) national initiative. The newly developed multiplier IC, created under project code C2S0061, is designed to improve computational performance and energy efficiency, making it a valuable addition to India’s push for indigenous chip design.
The Chief Minister’s Office also took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), posting: “A matter of great pride for Odisha!” while congratulating the PMEC team for their milestone contribution.
