Odisha Government nominates 10 new members to Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee

Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: In a significant step towards strengthening the governance of the world-famous Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, the Odisha government on Tuesday issued a notification nominating 10 new members to the temple’s Managing Committee. The appointments have been made under the provisions of the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1954 (Odisha Act 11 of 1955), which governs the administration of the shrine.
The official notification was issued by Manas Ranjan Barik, Principal Secretary of the Law Department, stating that the new members have been nominated in pursuance of clauses (i), (j), (k), and (l) of sub-section (1) of Section 6 of the Act.
The nominated members include: Siddheswar Mohapatra (Mukti Mandap representative), Krushna Chandra Sarmantray (Sevak representative), Madhusudan Singhari (Sevak), Jagannath Pujapanda (Sevak), Ganesh Dasmohapatra (Sevak), Ramnarayan Gochhikar (Sevak), Raghubir Das Maharaj (Balaramkot Matha), Girish Chandra Murmu (former CAG of India), K. Sabat (Chartered Accountant), and Mahesh Kumar Sahoo (Chartered Accountant, Bantala, Angul).
The formation of this new Managing Committee is seen as a crucial step for ensuring transparency, efficient administration, and preservation of the temple’s religious and cultural traditions. It reflects the state government’s continued efforts to safeguard the sanctity of the 12th-century shrine, which remains a spiritual cornerstone for millions of devotees worldwide.
