Youth found murdered in Puri, police suspect friend’s involvement

Bhubaneswar, Aug 22: A shocking incident of murder has rocked Puri as the body of a 21-year-old youth was discovered near Hotel Sterling Mangala under Baliapanda police station limits late Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Rajesh, who was allegedly stabbed to death.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Rajesh’s close friend may be involved in the crime. Police suspect the murder was the fallout of a dispute linked to an earlier financial transaction. Sources revealed that before the Rath Yatra festival, Rajesh’s friend had taken him to Kolkata for work. However, a disagreement later arose over unpaid dues. Rajesh had been persistently demanding his money back, which reportedly escalated tensions between the two.
On Thursday, the altercation is believed to have taken a violent turn, leading to Rajesh’s brutal killing. Police recovered his body and sent it for post-mortem examination.
The Baliapanda police have registered a murder case and launched a detailed investigation. Officers are probing whether the suspect acted alone or had accomplices. The incident has spread shockwaves in the area, with locals demanding swift action against the culprits.
