Youth dies during home guard recruitment fitness test in Khurda

Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: A tragic incident occurred in Odisha’s Khurda district during a physical fitness test for the recruitment of home guards, where a young aspirant reportedly lost his life. The incident took place at the Taratua Reserve Police grounds on Thursday, drawing attention to the safety arrangements during such strenuous evaluations.

The deceased has been identified as Imadul Haque, a resident of the Keranga area. According to sources, Imadul was participating in the 1600-meter race as part of the mandatory physical fitness test. However, during the run, he suddenly complained of uneasiness, collapsed on the track, and lost consciousness.

Officials at the site promptly arranged to shift him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, the doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead upon arrival. The exact cause of death remains uncertain.

Khurda police have initiated a detailed investigation into the incident. Authorities are also waiting for the post-mortem report, which is expected to shed light on the exact medical reason behind the sudden collapse and death.

The tragic death has cast a shadow over the recruitment process, raising concerns about medical preparedness and safety during such events.
