Teen girl found dead in Cuttack, blackmail suspected as trigger behind suicide

Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: In a tragic incident, a young girl was found dead at her residence in Nadikulasahi under Chauliaganj police limits in Cuttack on Thursday. She was reportedly discovered hanging from a ceiling fan, raising strong suspicions of suicide.

While the exact reason behind her death remains under investigation, initial reports suggest that the girl may have taken the extreme step due to suspected blackmail. This suspicion stems from the recent circulation of a private video involving the girl that had gone viral on social media shortly before the incident.

Upon receiving the information, Chauliaganj police reached the spot and seized the body for autopsy. Her mobile phone, a potentially crucial piece of evidence, has also been recovered and sent for forensic examination.

Police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter. They are exploring the possibility of cyberbullying, harassment, or blackmail as contributing factors that might have driven the girl to take such a drastic step.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern in the community, with many demanding strict action against those responsible for the circulation of the video and any possible harassment linked to the case.
