Forest guard brutally attacked by poachers in Mayurbhanj’s Similipal region

Bhubaneswar, July 28: In a shocking incident, a forest guard associated with the Sabuja Bahini in the Podadiha Forest Range of Mayurbhanj district was brutally attacked by poachers recently released on bail. The assault took place under the jurisdiction of Kaptipada police station and has raised serious concerns over the safety of forest personnel in the region.
According to sources, four poachers had been arrested eight months ago for illegal hunting activities in the Similipal forest during a raid in which the forest guard, Bharat, was actively involved. Two of the arrested poachers were granted bail just a month ago. Following their release, they reportedly began issuing threats to Bharat, warning him of severe consequences for his role in their arrest.
On the day of the attack, the accused allegedly stormed into Bharat’s house, stabbed him brutally using a tester (a sharp tool), and also misbehaved with his daughter. Bharat sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Baripada for treatment.
Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene and launched a detailed investigation. Authorities are working to apprehend the attackers and ensure justice for the injured forest guard.
