IMD issues yellow warning for Odisha: Thunderstorms and heavy rain likely on July 29-30

Bhubaneswar, July 28: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warnings for multiple districts in Odisha, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall over the next two days—July 29 and 30. The alert comes as a cautionary measure amid changing weather conditions expected to affect both coastal and interior parts of the state.
For July 29, the IMD predicts thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph in districts including Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati. All these districts have been placed under a yellow warning.
On July 30, Mayurbhanj is expected to receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds. Additionally, similar weather conditions are likely in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
The IMD has urged residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions to avoid weather-related hazards.
