Mahima Gosain Express coach derails near Sambalpur; major tragedy averted

Bhubaneswar, July 24: A major tragedy was narrowly averted on Thursday morning when a coach of the Mahima Gosain Express derailed near Sambalpur City station. The incident occurred around 9:15 AM as the Sambalpur-Shalimar bound train, reportedly returning from Bhubaneswar, approached Sambalpur. Thankfully, no injuries or casualties were reported, and all passengers on board are safe.
According to initial reports, one of the train's coaches suddenly went off the tracks near the outer signal of Sambalpur station, triggering panic among passengers. However, quick action by railway staff and local police helped prevent the situation from escalating. Emergency teams rushed to the site and began rescue and restoration work immediately.
Railway officials are currently assessing the cause of the derailment. Technical experts are examining the tracks and coach to determine whether mechanical failure or track-related issues led to the incident. Until the damaged coach is removed and the tracks are repaired, train services on the route may experience delays.
Senior railway officers have assured that a detailed inquiry will be conducted, and necessary safety measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
