STF seizes brown sugar worth ₹31 lakh in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, June 11: In a major crackdown on the illegal drug trade, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch seized 319 grams of brown sugar valued at around ₹31 lakh and arrested a notorious drug peddler from Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Acting on reliable intelligence, an STF team conducted a raid near the banks of the Kuakhai river on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. During the operation, the accused was caught red-handed with the contraband. Along with the brown sugar, police also seized a motorcycle, believed to have been used by the accused for transporting the narcotics.
The arrested individual is a known offender with a criminal past. Police confirmed that he was previously involved in two other drug-related cases registered at Badagada and Balianta police stations in Bhubaneswar.
Following the seizure, the accused was produced before the District Judge Court of Khurda. The STF has intensified its investigation to identify other members of the drug network and dismantle the supply chain operating in and around Bhubaneswar.
