Odisha Vigilance unearths massive assets in DA case against Berhampur engineer

Bhubaneswar, May 31: In a major development, the Odisha Vigilance has uncovered a significant cache of assets linked to N. Dillip Kumar Choudhury, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division-1, Berhampur, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case. The searches were carried out following warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.
During the operation, officials seized several immovable properties, including a double-storeyed building measuring 2,400 sq ft at Mayuree Vihar in Berhampur, a 3-BHK flat of 1,400 sq ft in Evos Exotica Apartment at Saheed Nagar, Bhubaneswar, and a 2-BHK flat of 1,000 sq ft in Spectrum Royale at Dharma Nagar, Berhampur. Additionally, 11 plots of land in and around Berhampur were found registered in his name across Sankarpur, Lathi Mauza, Ambagada, Dakshinpur, and Ratnapur.
Apart from immovable assets, bank deposits and other investments are currently being examined. Vigilance officials are now assessing the total valuation and legality of these properties. This comes on the heels of a similar high-profile case involving Baikuntha Nath Sarangi, outgoing Chief Engineer of the RW Department, in which assets worth several crores were unearthed.
