Odisha reports two new Covid-19 cases, total rises to seven

Bhubaneswar, May 31: Odisha reported two new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, raising the state’s total tally to seven. While this marks a slight uptick in infections, Odisha Health Secretary Aswathy S reassured citizens that there is no cause for panic as the current variant in circulation is considered mild.
Speaking to the media, Aswathy S confirmed that another individual displaying similar symptoms is under observation, though full details of the case are yet to be officially communicated to the Health Department. All confirmed patients are currently undergoing treatment and are expected to make a full recovery soon.
“We have the situation under control. The variant currently being detected is a mild one, so people need not worry,” said the Health Secretary. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining good health and hygiene, especially with the onset of the monsoon season, which often brings seasonal illnesses.
Nationally, the Covid-19 case count stands at 2,710, with seven deaths reported so far—one of them being a fresh fatality from Delhi. Health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely across the country.
