Bhubaneswar, May 20: In a horrifying and tragic incident, a man brutally stoned his own son to death in Gasaguda village, under Jiridikia Gram Panchayat in Sarangada police limits of Odisha’s Kandhamal district. The gruesome act took place on Monday and has sent shockwaves through the local community.

The accused has been identified as Balaram Pradha, who was arrested shortly after the incident by Sarangada police. According to preliminary information, Balaram had separated from his first wife and was currently residing with his second wife. His son from his first marriage had continued living with him despite the family rift.

Sources suggest that a heated altercation broke out between the father and son over an undisclosed issue. In a fit of rage, Balaram reportedly picked up a heavy stone and attacked his son, resulting in the young man's death on the spot. The motive behind the crime is still being investigated, and police are interrogating the accused for further details.

Local residents were left stunned by the brutality of the act. Police have registered a case, and the body has been sent for post-mortem. An investigation is ongoing.
