Low pressure likely by 22

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form in the Arabian Sea by 22nd. According to the India Meteorological Department's forecast, a cyclone is likely to form in the east-central Arabian Sea and Karnataka coast by May 21st. The possible cyclone will turn into a low pressure area in the east-central Arabian Sea and Karnataka coast by 22nd. Later, the possible low pressure is likely to move northwards.
On Saturday afternoon, some areas of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada districts received rain with thunder and lightning. Winds were blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour. The temperature has decreased in the state for the last two days due to the effect of Kala Baisakhi. The day temperature has dropped below 40 degrees in all the areas. Sambalpur recorded a maximum temperature of 39.8 degrees Celsius, while Khordha, Balangir, Bargarh and Titilagarh recorded 39.5 degrees Celsius, Nuapada, Boudh and Subarnapur recorded 39 degrees Celsius. Bhubaneswar recorded 38.4 degrees Celsius and Cuttack recorded 36.6 degrees Celsius. Yellow warning has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balangir, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati districts for the next 24 hours. Winds may blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kmph in some areas of the above districts.
There is no possibility of any significant change in the maximum temperature of the state till next week; but the temperature may remain 40 degrees Celsius or more at some places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Boudh districts, informed the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre.
