Odisha to set up help desk in Bhubaneswar for daily labourers, says Labour Minister

Bhubaneswar, May 17: Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia on Saturday announced the launch of a dedicated help desk in Bhubaneswar to support the welfare of daily labourers across Odisha. The announcement came during his visit to Shramik Hata in Nayapalli, where he interacted directly with workers to understand their challenges.
The help desk will assist labourers with operating the Shramik Sathi mobile app, obtaining job cards, and addressing other work-related issues. The Minister assured that all pending concerns raised by the labourers would be resolved within a month.
“Our BJP-led government is committed to ensuring that labour welfare schemes reach every village,” said Singkhuntia. “I personally visited the site to assess whether our initiatives are being effectively implemented and to gauge the level of awareness among workers.”
He expressed concern that nearly 90% of Odisha’s labourers remain unaware or unregistered for the welfare schemes available to them. To bridge this gap, the government plans to organize special registration camps offering immediate access to benefits such as marriage and death assistance.
Currently, Odisha has nearly 50 lakh labourers, and the Minister emphasized the urgent need to connect this large workforce with the benefits they rightfully deserve.
