Odisha Vigilance raids ABDO's properties, unearths massive disproportionate assets

Bhubaneswar, May 15: The Odisha Vigilance department has uncovered significant assets during simultaneous raids conducted at seven locations linked to Asit Kumar Patra, the Additional Block Development Officer (ABDO) of Dharmasala Block in Jajpur district. The raids were launched based on allegations that Patra had accumulated disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income.
During the operation, vigilance officials discovered several valuable properties, including three multi-storeyed buildings and a flat in Cuttack. One of the most prominent findings was a four-storeyed building spanning approximately 6,000 square feet located at Chorda near Kanheipur, Jajpur Road. Additionally, a newly constructed double-storeyed building covering around 4,000 square feet was found in the same locality. A two-bedroom flat measuring 1,000 square feet in Metro Avenue Apartment, Cuttack, and a triple-storeyed building of about 2,000 square feet in his native village were also seized.
Other assets include a small shopping complex (300 sq ft), five high-value plots in Jajpur Road and Danagadi town, gold ornaments weighing approximately 200 grams, cash amounting to ₹1.85 lakh, and bank deposits exceeding ₹65 lakh. Two two-wheelers were also found. The Vigilance department’s technical wing is currently assessing the total valuation of the seized properties. The investigation remains ongoing.
