Bhubaneswar, May 12: In a dramatic turn of events, Dhauli Police on Monday arrested a groom at a wedding venue in Bhubaneswar for allegedly cheating a woman by promising marriage and secretly planning to marry someone else. The accused has been identified as Biswajit Sahoo, a resident of Puri district.

According to police sources, the complainant claimed she had been in a serious relationship with Sahoo for several years. The two had even been living together for the past year, during which time he allegedly made repeated commitments to marry her.

However, the situation escalated on Sunday night when the woman, accompanied by police officers, stormed into a wedding mandap in Bhubaneswar. There, she found Sahoo preparing to marry another woman. She confronted him publicly, accusing him of betrayal and emotional exploitation.

Police immediately detained the groom at the venue and later placed him under formal arrest based on the complaint. He was produced before a local court on Monday.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to examine the claims and determine if further legal action is warranted.
