Youth found dead near Mahanadi River in Salipur; family alleges murder

Bhubaneswar, May 10: Tragedy struck in Salipur on Saturday as a young man was found dead near the banks of the Mahanadi River under Kishannagar police limits. The deceased has been identified as Amlan Jyoti Swain, son of Debendra Swain, originally from Sarapada Bodhang village under Nischintakoili police limits.
According to reports, Amlan's family had recently been residing in Machhuati village of Salepur on rent. On the day of the incident, Amlan had gone out, as usual, to attend his routine yoga classes but failed to return home. Concerned by his prolonged absence, his family launched a frantic search, but their efforts were in vain.
The following morning, locals discovered Amlan’s lifeless body near the riverbank. His motorcycle, shoes, and clothes were found scattered nearby, raising suspicions about the circumstances of his death. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation.
While authorities are treating the case as suspicious, Amlan’s family has alleged foul play, claiming he was murdered and his body dumped in the river. The police have seized his motorcycle, mobile phone, and other personal belongings for forensic examination. The investigation is ongoing.
