Two flights cancelled from Bhubaneswar Airport amid security and technical concerns

Bhubaneswar, May 8: Flight operations at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar faced disruptions on Thursday, with two scheduled flights cancelled due to separate issues linked to national security and technical problems.
According to BPIA Director Prasanna Pradhan, one of the flights was cancelled following airspace restrictions imposed in certain parts of northern and western India. These restrictions were reportedly related to heightened national security measures, prompting aviation authorities to issue precautionary directives. The cancelled flight was bound for Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, which falls within one of the restricted zones.
The second cancelled flight was on the Patna-Chandigarh route with a scheduled halt in Bhubaneswar. This flight was grounded due to technical constraints, Pradhan informed.
He clarified that both cancellations were taken as precautionary steps in coordination with national aviation authorities to ensure passenger safety and operational compliance. Passengers were informed about the cancellations, and alternative arrangements are being explored where possible.
The airport authorities remain on alert and are closely monitoring further instructions from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and other regulatory bodies.
