Higher Education Minister responds to OSSC, OPSC exam error allegations; candidates demand exam cancellation

Bhubaneswar, April 28: Amid rising controversy over alleged errors in the examinations conducted by the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) and Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) on Sunday, Higher Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj has clarified that the matter does not fall under the purview of his department. Reacting to the concerns raised by candidates, the Minister stated that the recruitment bodies operate independently and are not overseen by the Higher Education Department.
The OSSC had conducted a combined written examination for the recruitment of 21 Sub-Inspector (Traffic) posts (Group B) and 10 Sub-Inspector (Excise) posts (Group C) across all district headquarters in the state. Thousands of candidates appeared for the exams with high hopes. However, chaos erupted when many alleged that the question papers contained topics unrelated to the prescribed syllabus, causing confusion and distress.
In response, several candidates gathered outside the OSSC office today, staging a protest. They have demanded immediate cancellation of the examination and a fresh test, accusing the commission of negligence and mismanagement.
Authorities are yet to issue an official response to the demands.
