Tension erupts at Bhadrak hospital after woman dies in lift malfunction

Bhubaneswar, April 24: Tension gripped the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital on Wednesday following the tragic death of a patient, allegedly caused by a malfunctioning lift. The deceased has been identified as Minati Parida, a resident of Randia Narsinghpur under Bhadrak Rural Police Station.
According to reports, Minati was brought to the hospital in a 108 ambulance after she suddenly fell ill. After receiving preliminary treatment, she was being shifted to the medicine ward when tragedy struck. The lift that was supposed to transport her reportedly malfunctioned in the absence of any hospital staff. As the lift suddenly moved upwards, Minati became trapped inside, leading to suffocation and ultimately her death.
The shocking incident triggered commotion and outrage among attendants and locals at the hospital premises. Police rushed to the scene and worked to calm the agitated crowd, assuring a thorough investigation.
Authorities have initiated a probe to determine the exact cause of the lift failure and to examine whether negligence by hospital staff played a role. The incident has raised serious concerns over hospital infrastructure and emergency response mechanisms.
