Balasore mourns as Odia tourist killed in J&K terror attack laid to rest

Bhubaneswar, April 24: A wave of grief swept through Ishani village in Balasore district as locals gathered to pay their last respects to Prashant Kumar Satpathy, the Odia tourist who tragically lost his life in a recent terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prashant was among the 28 tourists killed in the deadly firing incident that shocked the nation. His mortal remains arrived in Bhubaneswar via a special flight from Srinagar and were later transported to his native village in the early hours of the day. A heart-wrenching moment unfolded as his son lit the funeral pyre, surrounded by grieving family members and villagers.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended heartfelt condolences and announced a comprehensive support package for the bereaved family. The state government will provide a financial assistance of ₹20 lakh, offer a government job to Prashant’s wife, and cover the entire education expenses of their son.
Prashant had traveled to Pahalgam for a family vacation with his wife and son when the unthinkable happened, cutting short a life filled with dreams and responsibilities.
