Odisha CM announces ₹10 lakh ex-gratia for kin of two policemen killed in road accident

Bhubaneswar, April 22: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹10 lakh each to the families of two police personnel who tragically lost their lives in a road accident near Gati Routpatna on the Cuttack-Paradip highway.
Expressing deep grief over the untimely deaths, the Chief Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The announcement was made through a post by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO Odisha) on X (formerly Twitter).
The deceased officers have been identified as Jagannath Mahali and Lokanath Shabar. The fatal accident occurred when a sand-laden truck collided with a PCR van belonging to the C.R.R.I. police station, resulting in the immediate deaths of the two personnel.
Their bodies were sent for post-mortem examination earlier in the day and later brought to the Mangalabag police station, where a guard of honour was conducted as a mark of respect. The solemn tribute was attended by senior police officials, including Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, who paid homage to the fallen officers.
The state stands in mourning for these brave souls who died in the line of duty.
