Three arrested for running fake overseas job racket in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, April 21: Commissionerate Police on Monday arrested three individuals for allegedly operating a fake job racket and duping several youths with false promises of employment abroad.
The arrested accused are Babulahari Gouda of Khandara village in Ganjam district (currently residing in Mumbai), along with Mahesh Ramchandra Lokhande and Kiran Shashikant Ghumre—both from Rayagada district and also based in Mumbai.
Police sources said the trio was conducting fraudulent job interviews at a hotel under the Kharvelnagar Police Station limits. They lured job aspirants through social media advertisements.
Acting on a tip-off from Sunil Kumar Saha, the Protector of Emigrants in Bhubaneswar, police swiftly raided the hotel. “Verification revealed the accused were conducting fake interviews and planning to cheat candidates,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena.
The gang had reportedly collected Rs 5,000 from each candidate initially and planned to demand Rs 70,000 after issuing fake job offer letters for foreign placements.
Police seized several resumes, forged documents, and four mobile phones from the accused. All three were produced in court today.
