Pratap Jena will face the court case in the case of Mahanga double murder of 2021. The court accepted the protest petition filed by the family of the deceased. JMFC Salepur has directed that a case will be filed against MLA Pratap Jena under IPC section 302,506,102b.

As Pratap Jena is MLA from Mahanga constituency, therefore, the case has been transferred to the special court in Bhubaneswar. This Mahanga double murder happened on 21 January 2021. Kulamani Baral, former Chairman of Mahanga Block and his associate Dibyasingh Baral were attacked and killed. Ramakant Baral, the son of deceased Kulamani, named 13 people in the complaint. The police arrested 9 of the 13 accused.
