Traffic restrictions announced in Bhubaneswar for Ashokastami Car Festival

Bhubaneswar, April 4: In view of the upcoming Ashokastami Car Festival of Lord Lingaraj, the Commissionerate Police has announced traffic restrictions in Bhubaneswar to ensure public safety and smooth movement of devotees. The grand festival is scheduled to be held on April 5–6, 2025, with the return car festival (Bahuda Yatra) set for April 9–10, 2025.
To manage the heavy footfall and vehicular congestion, several roads around the Lingaraj Temple and Rath Road will be closed to traffic. Vehicles will not be permitted to enter Rath Road from Mausimaa Chowk and will instead be diverted to Museum Chowk or Vivekananda Marg. In addition, access will be restricted from key lanes such as Barik Sahi Lane, Maharana Sahi Lane, Gosagareswar Chhak, Sital Sasthi Lane, Tinimundia Chhak, Harchandi Lane, Muna Medical Lane, and Punama Gate Lane. Vehicles approaching from Rath Khala will be rerouted via Bata Mahadev Temple.
The police have urged the public to follow these regulations strictly. Any violation will be penalized under Section 96 of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003, with fines ranging from ₹500 to ₹1,000.
