IMD issues heatwave warning for several Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar, March 28: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heatwave conditions in parts of Odisha, with Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts likely to be affected on March 29. According to the IMD’s forecast, one or two places in these districts may experience extreme temperatures, making precautions necessary for residents.
The weather department has also issued a yellow warning for heatwave conditions on March 30, extending the alert to six districts—Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, and Kalahandi. Similarly, the IMD has predicted that these districts will continue to experience heatwave conditions on March 31, maintaining the yellow warning for the same regions.
With temperatures expected to soar, authorities have advised people to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. The Odisha government is also closely monitoring the situation and may issue additional advisories if conditions worsen. Residents of the affected districts are urged to remain cautious as summer intensifies.
