Currently lodged in Hooghly Jail, Singh will be produced before the SDJM court in West Bengal before being transferred for further investigation.
Earlier, police had arrested three suspects in connection with the robbery—Bakshi Paswan from Guwahati, Assam, and Ajay Paswan and Pankaj Paswan from Hajipur, Bihar. The arrests marked a significant breakthrough in the case.
The daring heist took place on January 3 at Manappuram Finance Limited in Budharaja, Sambalpur. A gang of six to seven robbers, wearing helmets and armed with guns, stormed the branch and threatened employees. They forcibly made the assistant branch head, Sudhir Rath, open the lockers and fled with 30 kg of gold jewellery and Rs 4.81 lakh in cash. The criminals escaped on three bikes toward the highway.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to track down the remaining culprits and recover the stolen valuables.
