Jatni Municipality Executive Officer arrested for amassing disproportionate assets
Bhubaneswar, March 26: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested Suryamani Pattajoshi, Executive Officer of Jatni Municipality in Khordha district, for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets far exceeding his known sources of income. The arrest followed extensive searches at his properties, which uncovered a massive stash of wealth.
During the raids, vigilance officials discovered four high-value flats in Bhubaneswar, two multi-storied buildings in Berhampur, and 11 plots of land. Additionally, they seized approximately 475 grams of gold ornaments, ₹17 lakh in cash, and bank deposits exceeding ₹90 lakh. Officials suspect the total value of his assets could be even higher as investigations continue.
Despite being questioned, Pattajoshi failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for his wealth, prompting the vigilance department to take legal action. A case has been registered under Vigilance Cell PS Case No. 3/2025, and he is set to be produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, in Bhubaneswar.
The arrest has sent ripples through the administrative circles, highlighting the Odisha government’s intensified crackdown on corruption among public officials.
