Odisha Government dismisses 159 officials in anti-corruption drive

Bhubaneswar, March 24: In a major crackdown on corruption, the Odisha government has dismissed 159 officials over the past five years for corruption and amassing assets beyond their known sources of income. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi disclosed this information in the Odisha Assembly on Monday, reaffirming the state’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
According to official data presented in the Assembly, 120 government officers and employees have been terminated from service, while 39 officials were forcibly retired due to serious allegations of misconduct and financial irregularities. The government has also confiscated illegal assets worth ₹59.47 crore from those accused of accumulating wealth disproportionate to their income.
The move underscores the government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, with multiple agencies conducting raids and investigations to root out financial malpractice. The dismissals and asset seizures serve as a warning to government employees engaging in corrupt activities. The state administration has assured that further action will be taken to maintain integrity in public service and governance.
