Bhubaneswar, March 22: A tragic incident unfolded in Ganjam district on Saturday when a Class X student lost his life after being struck by lightning. The victim, identified as Rajesh Gouda, was a resident of Narayanpatana village and had recently appeared for the High School Certificate (HSC) examination.

According to sources, Rajesh was returning home from Bamakei to Narayanpur when the fatal lightning strike occurred. He was walking along the Bamakei-Kumarada Road when a sudden bolt of lightning struck him, leaving him severely injured. Passersby and locals immediately rushed to his aid and took him to the Bamakei hospital for medical attention.

Despite the efforts to save him, doctors at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival. The tragic loss of the young student has left his family and villagers in deep sorrow. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions during thunderstorms, as lightning-related fatalities remain a serious concern, particularly during the pre-monsoon and monsoon seasons in Odisha.
