BJD to attend joint action committee meeting on delimitation in Chennai on March 22

Bhubaneswar, March 21: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Odisha's main opposition party, has confirmed its participation in the Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting on the delimitation issue, scheduled for March 22 in Chennai.
In an official statement on Friday, the BJD announced that its party president and former Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, has nominated two senior leaders—Dr. Amar Patnaik and Sanjay Das Burma—to represent the party at the JAC meeting.
“President Biju Janata Dal, Naveen Patnaik, has nominated former MP Dr. Amar Patnaik and former minister Sanjay Das Burma to attend as BJD representatives in the Joint Action Committee on Delimitation, convened by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin tomorrow in Chennai,” the statement read.
The decision follows a meeting between a two-member delegation from the DMK and Naveen Patnaik on March 11. The delegation, which included former Union Minister and DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran and Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa, had invited the BJD chief to join the discussion against delimitation.
Tamil Nadu CM and DMK President M.K. Stalin has called upon representatives from multiple political parties across the country to oppose delimitation, which he described as a “blatant assault on federalism.” Political leaders from seven states, including Odisha, Punjab, and Bengal, are expected to participate in the March 22 meeting.
“I extend my warmest welcome to the leaders from Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, and Punjab who are joining us for the Joint Action Committee meeting on #FairDelimitation,” Stalin wrote on Friday.
