Odisha Assembly disrupted as Congress and BJD protest over separate issues

Bhubaneswar, March 21: The Odisha Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes today as Congress legislators, dressed in black attire and turbans, staged a protest against the rising crimes against women in the state. Their demonstration led to a disruption in proceedings, forcing Speaker Surama Padhy to adjourn the Question Hour session until 11:30 AM.
Congress members created a ruckus inside the House, banging bells and shouting slogans, accusing the state government of failing to curb crimes against women. They claimed that the administration was not taking adequate measures to ensure women’s safety, and they demanded immediate intervention.
Adding to the chaos, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislators also staged a walkout, alleging discrimination in the Assembly. They stormed into the well of the House, waving hands and raising slogans, protesting that despite being the main Opposition party, they were not being given enough opportunities to voice their concerns.
With both Congress and BJD disrupting proceedings for different reasons, the Assembly struggled to function smoothly, highlighting the rising tensions between the ruling party and the opposition.
