IMD issues thunderstorm warning for Odisha from March 20-23

Bhubaneswar, March 20: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and hailstorms across several Odisha districts from March 20 to 23, 2025. On March 20, light to moderate rain is expected in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.
An orange warning has been issued for these districts, predicting thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and surface winds of 50-60 kmph.
A yellow warning has been issued for Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, and Jajpur, where gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are expected. On March 21, similar weather conditions are likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and other districts.
An orange warning is in place for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur, while a yellow warning covers Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, and more. The IMD predicts thunderstorms to continue on March 22 and 23, with widespread rain across Odisha. Residents are advised to stay cautious.
