Bhubaneswar, March 19: A fatal road accident on National Highway 57 (NH-57) near Pichukuli Adarsha Vidyalaya in Khordha district claimed two lives and left two others injured on Wednesday.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when a speeding Maruti Suzuki car collided head-on with a passenger bus en route from Visakhapatnam to Bhubaneswar. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled, trapping a man and a woman inside. Both occupants died on the spot due to critical injuries.

The bus, which veered off the road after the crash, had two passengers who sustained minor injuries. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed, but initial reports suggest that they were husband and wife.

The accident led to outrage among locals as they alleged a delay in police response. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap, including factors like overspeeding and possible driver negligence.
