Foreign woman apologizes for lord Jagannath tattoo on thigh after backlash

Bhubaneswar, March 3: A foreign woman has publicly apologized after getting a tattoo of Lord Jagannath on her thigh at a tattoo parlour in Bhubaneswar, an act that sparked widespread outrage among devotees and religious organizations. The incident led to protests and calls for action against the tattoo artist.
The controversy erupted after a photo of the Italian woman showcasing the tattoo was shared on the Instagram page of ‘Rocky Tattooz,’ the parlour where she got it inked. As the image went viral, members of the Hindu Sena lodged a complaint at the Saheed Nagar Police Station, demanding strict action against the shop’s owner, Rocky Ranjan Bishoyi, for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. Following public outcry, the parlour deleted the post.
In response to the backlash, both the woman and Bishoyi issued video apologies. The woman clarified, “I never intended to offend anyone. I am a devotee of Lord Jagannath. I regret my mistake and will cover the tattoo once it heals. Please forgive me.”
