Bhubaneswar, Sep 21: The eagerly anticipated launch of the second Vande Bharat Express in Odisha, connecting Puri and Rourkela, is set to commence operations starting September 24, as confirmed by the South Eastern Railway.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officiate the virtual inauguration of the Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express, alongside the launch of several other Vande Bharat Express trains nationwide, all scheduled for September 24.
The Puri-Rourkela-Puri Vande Bharat Express (Train Numbers: 20836/20835) will be operational six days a week, excluding Saturdays. It will depart from Puri station at 5 am and arrive at Rourkela station at 12:45 pm. On its return journey, the train will depart from Rourkela station at 2:10 pm and reach Puri station at 9:40 pm.
This Vande Bharat Express will have designated stops at key stations, including Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur City, and Jharsuguda.
The introduction of this train will establish a vital rail connection between the coastal districts of the State and its western region. A successful full trial run of the Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express was conducted recently.
Earlier in May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated Odisha's first Vande Bharat Express virtually, which currently operates between Puri and Howrah.
Vande Bharat Express represents India's inaugural semi-high-speed train and aims to offer passengers an entirely new and enhanced travel experience. It is characterized by its focus on speed, safety, and top-notch service, ensuring passengers enjoy a supremely comfortable journey with world-class amenities.
