Crime Branch summons Naba Das’s children for probe, daughter seeks CBI investigation

Bhubaneswar, March 1: The Odisha Crime Branch has issued notices to Deepali Das, daughter of late Health Minister Naba Das, and her brother Bishal, asking them to appear before the investigating agency in the first week of March.
The summons is part of the ongoing investigation into the assassination of Naba Das, who was shot dead by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gopal Das on January 29, 2023, in Brajarajnagar, Jharsuguda district.
According to sources, Deepali and Bishal have been called to provide any clarifications they may have regarding the case. The agency has also assured them that they can share any concerns or apprehensions about the investigation.
Crime Branch Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Vinaytosh Mishra confirmed that the probe into Naba Das’s murder is still ongoing. This development follows Deepali Das’s recent request for the case to be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), citing dissatisfaction with the current progress. The demand for a CBI probe has reignited discussions about the high-profile case.
