Two killed, one critically injured as bike falls off bridge in Koraput

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: In a tragic accident, two persons lost their lives while another sustained critical injuries after their motorcycle fell off a 20-foot-high bridge in Chatua area of Odisha’s Koraput district. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when the trio was returning home from Jagar Mela, an event organized as part of Maha Shivaratri celebrations.
The victims have been identified as Purnachandra Khara, Gangadhar Gemel, and Tripati Khara, all residents of Pottangi. According to sources, the accident took place when the bike lost control while crossing the Andhari Ghat bridge. The impact of the fall proved fatal for Purnachandra and Gangadhar, who died on the spot, while Tripati sustained grievous injuries.
Passersby immediately alerted the police, who reached the scene and seized the bodies for post-mortem. The injured victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident might have been caused by poor visibility and the sharp curves of the road. Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap.
