168 firms sign MoUs to set up industries in Odisha, Minister informs Assembly

Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: Odisha Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain informed the State Assembly on Friday that a total of 168 firms have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Odisha government over the past five years to establish industries in the state.
The Minister provided this update while responding to a query from BJP legislator Upasana Mohapatra, who represents the Brahmagiri constituency.
Breaking down the numbers, Minister Swain stated that 23 MoUs were signed between 2014 and 2024. Out of these, 17 industries are in the final stages of becoming operational, while four projects have received necessary approvals, and the next steps for their establishment are in progress. However, applications for the establishment of two more industries are still pending.
Furthermore, he highlighted that 145 MoUs were signed during the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave held in January 2025, showcasing the state’s growing industrial potential.
A detailed list of all signed MoUs was presented before the Assembly, underscoring the Odisha government’s commitment to boosting industrial development and attracting investments in the state.
